Jaguar D-Type: 24 Hours Of Le Mans Champion

The Jaguar D-type is the embodiment of what the marque stands for. Built for speed but with no compromise to beauty, the car managed to take victory at Le Mans no less than three years in a row. One of those very Le Mans-winning cars, the 1956 Ecurie Ecosse No. 4 car, will be offered in Monterey come August. Ecurie Ecosse was a private team with strong factory support from Jaguar, as there were no Works entry cars from the company in 1956. Thanks to the skilled driving of Ninian Sanderson and Ron Flockhart, as well as the incredible engineering put into this car, the inline-six–powered D-type finished a lap ahead of the Stirling Moss and Peter Collins Aston Martin. This D-type, XKD 501, is the best example of one of the most iconic Jaguars ever made and will surely be a highlight of Monterey Car Week.
