Google’s Schaft bot

SCHAFT co-founder and CEO Yuto Nakanishi climbed onstage to introduce his company’s new bipedal robot. He explains that the robot can climb stairs, carry a 60-kg payload, and step on a pipe and keep its balance.

Schaft was acquired by Google in December 2013 and has been very quiet since, despite excelling in DARPA’s Robotics Challenge. They don’t even have a website any more, and their operations and projects are closely guarded secrets within Alphabet’s X division.
