Solenoid engines

Single solenoid and V8 engines are demonstrated. No explanation as to how they work or what they can be used for. Guaranteed to break the ice at parties.

    It’s a very simple concept. Using an electromagnet timed right (the sparks at the bottom of the crankshaft kind of work as the cam for timing) instead of fuel, valves, and compression. What it would be used for? Absolutely nothing more than a conversational piece as I’m sure they’re volumetric and thermal efficiency are absolutely horrible.

    Not that an internal combustion engine’s thermal efficiency is any better, in fact I’m sure it’s tons worse using a radiator and all. But they’re volumetric efficiency and ratio of power by consumption of fuel absolutely blows any of these solenoid engines away. Besides, look what anything that rotates by electricity uses. It certainly isn’t driven by solenoids and a crankshaft. Now a rail gun, that’s a different story. Solenoids yes, rotation no…

    Still cool to look at though.
