Frankly speaking

Screen Shot 2015-01-31 at 11.23.59 PMThe weatherman tonight is predicting from 8 to 14 inches of snow with high winds approaching blizzard conditions for Illinois on Super Bowl Sunday. It just started coming down as I wrote this. By morning, it may be the white chaos that we’ve had before. It may put the kibosh on our Super Bowl Sunday family gathering. The four brothers will be moaning about not having a couple of Mom’s Reuben sandwiches and the camaraderie that’s experienced when we all get together. Look out New England. Again. The Patriots may delay their trip home. (If I can’t get to the beer store, I’ll have to dig into my stash.)

Another week has gone by and there’s really nothing to complain about except the weather, but online, I’ll find something. HostGator, Comcast and WordPress are all doing their jobs making my job easier. If Comcast goes out during the storm, I’m screwed. It’s the weakest link.

The one other online entity which is a bit screwed up is YouTube.

YT is changing embedding controls almost weekly. Yesterday they changed the “annotations” and “autoplay” buttons to the exact opposite of what they used to be for years. Sometimes there’s a little switch similar to a smart phone’s settings where one can turn off airplane mode, notifications, etc. On YouTube, sometimes it’s there, sometimes not. During the embed process, a sample screen is present and it’s merely a repeat of the main video. It does nothing. It’s as if the entire interface was designed by a committee whose boss is out of town indefinitely.

On Christmas of 2013 I was gifted with an auto-start device for the Mighty Tundra. It’s so nice to get into a warm truck… if you remember to activate it ahead of time. And don’t forget to insert the ignition key and turn it on. Otherwise the engine dies as soon as the brake pedal is depressed. Everyone who enjoys an auto-start has done that more than once. Of course, with 12 inches of snow behind the wheels and on the roads, there probably won’t be a lot of folks getting around and no need to start your vehicle from the kitchen.

Lastly, there are two things that I’d like to remind you of:

  • SPT stickers are free. Just ask for one via email.
  • I still love doing this shit.

Interesting Nat or Not this week, Frank. As of right now, 22 voters have their minds made up, and are split evenly, right down the middle: 11 Nat, 11 Not… and NONE are undecided!

Looking forward to the final tally on this one!

Oh, and complain I did. Top that with unnecessary double apron shoveling, a Super Bowl Sunday for the ages.

Ironic that it’s starting that way, but it’s always interesting to see men’s idea of female boobies.
