Slinks

It’s Sunday and today we’re going to do something a little different with the Slinks. All the videos which normally would be a hyperlink, are now embedded. Just like we did on Christmas and New year’s day. All the other stuff will have links as usual. This could quite possibly cut down on the amount of YouTube ads that we all have to suffer through and make for a more enjoyable viewing session. At the end, there’s a poll set up and you can vote on what you think of this different format.

And now, on with the show.

Final thoughts:

This was a big, single post. There’s a whole lot of scrolling. I think most of the ads aren’t there, but pretty much all of YouTube’s features are still there such as screen size. I turn off YT cookies and annotations in the embed code. On the down side, it takes up a lot of screen real estate and it’s a bit more work on my part. If you have to stop and come back in a new browser window, you have to scroll down to where you were before. I’d like you to look at the poll below and select your best answer. Please leave a comment regardless of how you voted. I’d really appreciate it. Also let me know if you have a different or better idea for the Slinks format.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

I personally prefer the original style, as they followed the name of slinks setup in link style. This is assuming slinks refers to Sunday links anyways.
Not to mention the page takes forever to load now, with all the embedded videos. I don’t know about everyone else, but I don’t watch every single video, and as far as all the advertisements it seems a lot of people are lacking the proper ad blocking software. Adblock plus does wonders for the entire internet, nevermind youtube, I’m sure there are others.
Lastly, as my Dad used to say… if it aint broke, don’t fix it.

The preview screen gives me a better idea of what I want to view, compared to links.

    Otherwise, I’m neutral.

Good point about the page load time. Something I completely didn’t consider.

I’ve changed my mind… by this time on Sunday, I’m usually less than halfway through the Slinks, because the Slinks lead to other links, which lead to other links, ad infinitum, and so on…

I like the Slinks better when they take all week!
(I don’t come to SPT for the efficiency!)

Worked great here. Whatever way you go in the future, I’ll still be stopping by…
