Frankly speaking

Ah… glorious summer. Here in Illinois we’d be able to enjoy it if it wasn’t for all the rain. I think (so far) all the mosquito larvae where I’m at have been ultimately washed into the Illinois River. Glad I don’t own a boat. On to the site.

I’ve successfully duplicated SPT on a test subdomain in order to try out my idea of widening the content area. I’m sure that it can be done. I’ve printed out the style sheet files and have highlighted the corrections. All I gotta do is incorporated them into the test site and see how it looks. Then it should be just a copy/paste into the existing site to go live. There may be some goofy glitches but we’ll have to see how that goes. I’ll have the old files standing by incase things go to shit. Hmm. A total site backup would be a wise idea here.

The Babes’ star ratings are working out pretty well, I think. It’s interesting to see the range of preferences everyone has. What’s lacking, and I know it, are actual graphic stars. I have to find a way of incorporating some star graphics into the polls that are working so well.

I check the site stats every so often and I find that the readers’ browser of choice changes from day to day. IE 8, 9 and 10, Safari, Chrome, Firefox. At any given time, any browser could be the most used on that day.

View stats

My reason for wanting to change the width of the site comes from the readers’ viewing area. Even I would like a wider viewing area.

Let’s make one thing clear here. Most websites track traffic. These trackers can and do provide a bunch of information about the incoming connections to their site. Personally I don’t give a shit about who you are or where you’re from or what gear you’re running. What I’m concerned with is looking at the data to see if I’m doing a good job on this site and how I can make it better for you. What were the most visited posts, what were the most downloaded pics, how many people visited the site. Browsers. That’s it. The rest of the numbers and info confuses me, I don’t deal with it, I don’t worry about and I don’t care it. I post every day and you visit and enjoy. If you can enjoy it even more, that’s what matters.

I was hoping that after 5 years of being online, we’d have at least a couple of more advertisers to help pay the bills of keeping the site going. I dream of sweet emails from FlowMaster, Lingenfelter, Hennessy, Boston Brewing, Lagunitas, the list goes on. There must be some magic elixir or spell that would thrust SPT into the limelight. I’d absolutely love to turn away Budweiser’s offer. But I’d run that by you guys first.  Maybe I could get some telemarketers to… nah. Nevermind. I hate those people.

Once again I really appreciate you stopping by whenever you can.
