We took a trip to the Friar Tuck Beer Store and, between us all, dumped a whole shitload of money on beers that we can’t get locally. The Schlafley Pumpkin Ale was the big favorite. The store had almost one entire wall filled with craft beer and a “build your own sixpack” section. So nice… So expensive. I will share my selection with you guys over the next few weeks in reviews.
One of the boys bought a single bottle of beer based purely on the label. The beer was a 12-ouncer of Ghost Face Killah from Twisted Pine Brewing. Later that evening, he passed around sips from the bottle and I gotta say, it was the most amazing, yet horrifying, throat scorching beer I have ever tasted. The beer was made with chili peppers.
Anaheim, Fresno, Jalapeno, Serrano, Habanero and Bhut Jolokia – Otherwise known as the Ghost Pepper. 200 times the heat of jalapenos, Bhut Jolokia are the hottest peppers in the world, a pepper so hot it can be weaponized. So hot that our brewers had to wear masks and gloves to cut them up.
My apologies for not having something waiting for you on Labor Day Monday, but Sunday night was especially raucous with my boys and their babes there, as well as my sister’s family and their offspring. The beer flowed like the Colorado rapids. Regardless of the weather, the 4+ hour drive down there and back is a perennially guaranteed fun time. And boy, did we have fun.
In my one-day absence, the site did just fine. Readership was decent, even for the long holiday weekend. Comment spam is on the increase since the WP-Ban plugin was disabled, but one click dispels them all. So far. I do foresee it getting out of control in the future.
For this Tuesday, we bring you back into a reality of sorts and move into the daily posting schedule with the topical posts missed over the last day or so.
Thanks for stopping by.
