On Tuesday, the planet Venus’ orbital path was such that it traversed directly across the body of the sun. Transits occur in a pattern that repeats every 243 years, with pairs of transits eight years apart separated by long gaps of 121.5 years and 105.5 years.
We have a few pictures and a video showing the silhouette of Venus as it passed across the face of the sun.
