Frankly speaking

Hi. Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas!

I have discovered via Reddit.com that GoDaddy supports SOPA. SPT’s domain registrar is GoDaddy. This weekend, before the Christmas holiday is over, I will transfer our 4 domains over to either Namecheap or Hover. I know it will cost me some money, right at Christmas, but I must do it. It’s the right thing to do.

On Friday night, Christmas Eve eve, I set in motion the transference of all of SPT’s domains from GoDaddy to Namecheap as our domain name registrar. The transfer, as of this writing, has not yet culminated. But it’s Christmas, staffing is usually low at this time and I understand that. So I will patiently wait for the axe to drop. And so do you indirectly. We’re still on GD, but if something doesn’t happen on Nc’s end by Monday, I’ll dive into it head first via their support line.

I’ll not expound on my opinion of SOPA/PIPA (I’m vehemently against it,) but I know that I and SPT  and the entire Internet as we know it could be wrapped up in this quagmire of censorship that Hollywood is trying to ram down the throats of the American people via the Luddites we have elected to Congress. “A series of tubes”… pfft!

I have set the wheels in motion and we will wait for culmination of the transfer act. There may some downtime but maybe not. Downtime or not, the deed must be done.

On this Christmas holiday, you need not worry about SixPackTech. That’s my job. Your job is to be with your families and friends, get that Christmas closeness feeling, eat some great food and drink some great beer. I will do the same, and maybe post another post “under the influence post” and a stupid picture. Like I occasionally do.

Have fun you guys! Enjoy the holiday and don’t do anything stupid.

We have free SPT stickers. (Jeeze, I’m so bad.)

If they did, how does that change things now that I’ve chunked down my cash for the transfer? (Rhet…)

Read this article at TechCrunch about GD hedging its words in an interview.

Ever since I had to renew the domains last July GD had me jumping through hoops trying to find the proper button to click on their website.

    The problem really isn’t GoDaddy… it’s SOPA.

    Thanks for the comment.
