Crystal Guinness

Crystal Guinness, a new and quite different take on the quintessential stout. is set to be released in the U.K. and Ireland on June 1 and in the U.S. later this summer. The brew is Guinness’ first attempt at a spinoff product in more than three decades, and was conceptualized in response to declining Guinness sales throughout Ireland. Crystal G. is a completely clear, translucent beer that maintains Guinness’ flavor but is significantly lighter in texture, has only 95 calories per pint, and obviously looks nothing like a stout. Apparently no one in the front office there remembers the failure of Crystal Pepsi back in the early ’90s. Hmm maybe the hipsters might glom to this. Keep in mind, it’s still beer.

More info is here.

NOTE: 6/3/11 – This was an April Fool’s joke that we fell for.

We bit into it hook, line and sinker. Embarrassment ensues. But how clever!

Lessons were learned and notes were taken.

My thoughts exactly. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Can’t find this anywhere but here. Every article that talks about it links here. Seems false, nothing on Guiness’ website.

I looked into it today, 6/3/11. It was in fact, an April Fool’s joke perpetrated by the site in the link.

I was suckered right in and posted it. I will make an addendum to the original post.

Sorry. But it was a great idea, eh?
