jaguar logo 300x217 Auto Monday JaguarJaguar is celebrating its 75 anniversary this year and there could be no better candidate for photo gallery than a collection of Jaguar automobiles.

Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company by Sir William Lyons in 1922, which originally made motorcycle sidecars before switching to passenger cars. The name was changed to Jaguar after World War II due to the unfavorable connotations of the SS initials. Following several changes of ownership since the 1960s, Jaguar was listed on the London Stock Exchange and became a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index until it was acquired by Ford in 1989. Jaguar also holds Royal Warrants from HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Charles. Ford has since sold off jaguar to Tata Motors of India.

The cars are affectionately called Jag-yoo-ar by the Brits and others may refer to them as Jagwires or just plain Jags. There’s a nice collection of Jag photos and a video coming up next.
