We’re still here and still consecutive in posting. No interruptions so far. HostGator has been flawless and WordPress was upgraded to v2.8.6 which we have running right now. Everything remains the same, and that’s damn good.
I am delighted in the fact that readership to these friendly confines continues to inch upward. On a daily basis we can anticipate (hope for) close to 700 visitors which are welcomed in. Page views are approaching 2,000 per day.
Valued reader, Howie13, was kind enough to grant us a donation with the stipulation that we spend it on beer and review it on the site. As it is written, so shall it be done. Thanks so much, Howie.
This brings to mind an interesting fact, perhaps about human nature that may have been overlooked by yours truly. I have a Donate button in the right sidebar. Many websites have donate buttons which unobtrusively ask the readership that if they like what they see and experience on the site, to kindly give a monetary sum to help with the upkeep of the site. Some ask “Buy me a beer,” or “Buy me a cuppa coffee.” I put up a button way down low in the sidebar in the hopes that someone who liked what they saw on SPT, would chip in a couple of ducats. But I buried it way down there, under everything else. With that in mind…
What I’d like to do is offer a sponsorship. If you would donate the amount of the cost of a sixpack of beer, I’ll buy the beer or your choice, or a reasonable facsimile and review it. It would be a Brew Review Sponsored By You. Just understand that this is Illinois. We don’t have any of those Alaskan brews that people are crowing about, but we have some good beers, many of which I haven’t tried yet. If a beer run (bee-double-e-double-r-u-n) is necessary, it will be done. Regardless of whether I find your requested brew or not, it will be a learning experience. (And an adventure, if my wife comes along.) Tomorrow, I’ll move the Donate button further (farther?) to the top and put up a little graphic or blurb to make it easier to chip in. But hey. If you just wanna kick in a buck or two, please do. You will be recognized. Thanks.
The 2009 Weblog Awards will be over on Friday, the 20th. If you see fit, take the time to nominate SixPackTech.com. And thanks if you do.
My motorcycle is back in the shop. Verdict: the carb rejetting kit that was installed had needles that were too rich for the bike. They gotta lean ‘em out. Another carb rejetting. Today of all days, a Saturday no less, possibly the last good day to ride a motorcycle, and I’m stuck looking at all the Harley guys buzz past the house. The twins have made mention of their “traditional” Thanksgiving Day motorcycle run, and if all goes well, and I have my bike back by then, I may find the stones to join them.
On the homefront, our latest batch of homebrew reached maturity today. Frabekurji Octobrew has come of age. We had one bottle, the last bottle capped, which my wife labeled “Sample.” We cracked that beer open about 5 o’clock . The final indication of a matured homebrew beer is that moment when you uncap the first bottle. Did the beer carbonate itself ok in the bottle? We were assured when we heard the “tssst!” as I popped the cap. We poured a few ounces between us and sat there for perhaps 20 minutes discussing the beer, me with my penchant for malt and sweetness, she with her drying and bitter rote memory tongue. A review is forthcoming next week.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting.

saw the question mark about the use of Further and Farther and did a little research.
Farther is taking over the meaning of distance and further the meaning of addition .
Farther it is. Should have used “closer to” instead but then we wouldn’t have a comment.
haha ya never know. i guess it helps to have friends with degrees in English.
