Ya know, there’s a lot of good stuff on this website. There are over 2,200 posts on SPT right now, tons of which are great, funny, educational but forgotten. This last week, I’ve been trying to find a relatively easy way to add an additional feature. Two come to mind:
Add a Related Posts feature at the bottom of each post based on category or,
Add a Random Post feature to the sidebar.
But I don’t want to burden the server with tons of automatic queries. Our HostGator service has been flawless throughout SPT‘s tenure. Although it gets a little slow sometimes, especially on Saturday nights. But that might be Comcast as well.
And I miss the Man Law widget. Widgetbox isn’t working right now, otherwise I’d have a replacement up there somewhere. I’m constantly think of ways to improve the site to make it more enjoyable.
I’ve tried some WordPress plugins to do the Related Posts thing, but somehow they don’t seem do work right off the bat. I don’t know if it’s because of the Cutline theme I’m using, or Firefox, or the Mac. They just don’t work from step one. So I have postponed it until I’ve honed it.
Some of these features require adding CSS or PHP code to the theme files. Right now, I’m uncomfortable with that. I don’t want to screw things up to the point where the site looks like crap or doesn’t function as it has. I’ll be working on this. We deserve it.
Readership has remained steady, still upwards of 300 per day. Another SPT sticker or two went out this week to Scranton, PA. I may have mentioned last week that the Corvette Guys renewed their sponsorship. My son and I are going out Sunday for an extended motorcycle ride and I’ve had some good beers during my time off from work. All is well with the world.
We will continue doing the same stuff. Every day. Simultaneously. At the same time.
Together.

Mickey’s Fine Malt Liquor?
Is malt liquor beer? Or is it liquor?
Neither fish nor fowl, as they say.
It’s not distilled, so, technically, I grudgingly admit, it’s beer, with sugar, corn syrup, etc. added in fermentation to boost the alcohol, at the expense of flavor. I think I was 14 or 15 when I tasted Mickey’s. At that age, I certainly didn’t know what I liked, but Mickey’s showed me what I didn’t like!
For those who give a rat’s patoot, here’s a pretty good history of malt liquor, from a sociological viewpoint:

I sincerely hope that’s not what John C meant, but if it is, Frank, revoke his SPT sticker!
