We had a little panic scare today as I uploaded a WordPress plugin zip file to the host and then decided I didn’t want it after all. The file would not delete. It made the cPanel act as if it refused to allow me to do so. I quickly wrote an email to HostGator support and they were on the case in a shot. Things are ok now and I got a new GUI menu in the cPanel which somewhat easier to use. I toast the techs at HostGator; they’re right on the ball.
I had a request in the comments to run more pictures of the cars at the Hunnert Car Pile-up. I’ll more than likely do that, because we can never have enough fast, loud, rusty hotrods.
The beer site has lain stagnant the last couple of weeks and I apologize. I get so wound up in this part and then I always run out of time. But I assure you that the beer.sixpacktech.com will soon get all the reviews and beer-related posts. Except for what’s working now on the main site.
This website is still relatively young. But the readership has gone up tremendously and the page views are through the roof. Hmm, like minds think alike. It would stand to reason that we here at SPT have hit a nerve; that nerve being the stuff that interests guys, namely fast cars, gadgets, beer, funny stuff and a couple o’ babes here and there. Just a sixpack of posts every day make it worth the while to come visit again and again, knowing that there will always be something new tomorrow.
I’m going to open up the site to advertising some time soon in order to recoup my investment in its infrastructure. But lemme tellya, I got rules. I don’t particularly like going to visit sites that run ads with Flash or animated GIFs. They tug at your eyeballs. They’re distracting. They take away from the users’ experience on the site. And since SPT is still in its infancy, we’re gonna start out small and see how it goes. I’m sure you guys wouldn’t mind an ad very similar to the one we have from the Corvette Guys. Small, unobtrusive, yet still interesting because it’s about cars. Corvettes. I thank them for sponsoring that small plot on the right.
But with advertising comes unknown territories. What about banner ads and their placement? What if a sponsor reneges on a deal? What if the sponsor harbors a malicious intent such as spyware, phishing or viruses? Wherein lies the responsibility? That’s why we’re going to take it slow. And cheap. As they say, Cincinnati wasn’t built in a day and all roads lead to Peoria.
But let me reassure you that SPT will continue every day as long as there are guys and gals who visit and be amused on a daily basis.
