Gas guzzlers of the ’70s

Hindsight may be 20-20 but what were we thinking in the 1970s when we were buying these land yachts? Would they fit in our garages? Gas was a little over a half a buck a gallon and we didn’t care.

The Chicago Tribune put together a little slideshow for us to view here. I can hardly believe that these street cruisers were a common sight back then. But they were. Things changed in ’73 when the oil embargo hit and there were long lines at the gas stations.

Those who don’t learn from history are condemned to repeat it.
