The necktie is one of the most ridiculous but accepted inventions ever devised by man. All the business guys wear them. They are uncomfortable, usually in poor taste from a design pattern standpoint and unsafe in some situations.

Some of you perhaps put one on every day because the dress code at work requires it. Others, the blue collar working stiffs, don’t usually wear ties except to attend church, a funeral, a wedding or some other affair. Few and far between.

On quite a few occasions I’ve help my sons tie their ties. It usually is me standing behind one of them in front of a mirror. If frustration sets in, I just put it on, tie it, loosen it and give the noose to the kid to wear.
